Chicago’s transportaion and areas to live ..?

Hi all
I am moving to chicago in 6 months in gods well and iam planning to live in lincoln park area and my work well be in downtown
1st my salary well be 33k (2800/month) And i already have medical insurance is it enough to live there
2nd should i buy a car or public transportion is enough

I hate to be frank, but with a $33,000 income, you will have a really tough time living in Lincoln Park. A studio apartment in Lincoln Park will cost you $1,200 per month ($14,400 per year). Food in Lincoln Park will probably cost you $5,500 per year if you want to eat out a few times per week. That leaves you with $13,000 total to spend on everything else (as well as savings), which really doesnt seem like enough.

If you can find a decent deal that you think will allow you to live in Lincoln Park, you should definitely use public transportation. Parking will cost you a ton of money, travel downtown will be inefficient, and Chicago is a great walking city.
